INVESTEC ASSET MANAGEMENT (IAM)
Summary of issues/requirements
IAM were hosting an application we had written for them over 10 years ago on a Windows 2003 Server no longer supported by Microsoft. They asked us to assist them with their upgrade to Windows Server 2012 R2 and SQL Server 2012. This involved upgrading 4 servers in total: a shared web server and database server; in both UAT and live environments.
Solution
Vega worked with IAM’s internal IT department to agree a migration plan. Then we built virtual machines with the required Windows Server version and reviewed the application code to identify any T-SQL or ASP code changes required. It was also necessary to upgrade the existing DTS packages to use SSIS. Having made the necessary code changes in our development environment, we produced a set of scripts and installation instructions for the migration and carried out thorough testing. Working alongside the customer both remotely and onsite we were able to provide real-time support during their installation to both UAT and live to ensure the upgrade went smoothly with no disruption for end users.
